Sallie Brown Johnson made her transition on Friday, June 12, 2020. Sallie was born February 19, 1922 to the late Peter and Eliza Miller Brown in Cairo, GA. Sallie was the youngest and last remaining of the 14 siblings born to that union. Sallie came from a long line of ancestors who were strong, survived, thrived, dignified and spiritual people. Sallie was educated in Grady county Schools in Cairo, GA. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. James A.M.E. Church. Sallie was married to Josephus Johnson who also preceded her in death. She moved to St. Petersburg over 41 years go. She was last employed at Suncoast West Minister Shores where she worked in dietary. Sallie was a member of the Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church were she served on the Stewardess Board and the Deaconess Board. She was affectionately known as one of the three "Golden Girls" at the church. In everyday life, she was the cornerstone of the family. She was feisty but sweet, loving, kind and had a wonderful sense of humor. She lived a good life. She enjoyed working with flowers, arts and crafts, making jewelry, reading, watching TV, phone chats and visiting with family and friends. She contributes her longevity in life to taking good care of herself, treating people with respect, not worrying about anything but trusting God for everything. Her family said that her life has inspired us; her devotion nurtured us; her encouragement propelled us; and her prayers sustained us. Today is an extraordinary day for an extraordinary Lady. Sallie leaves a legacy of love to: - Her two devoted daughters: Mary Brown Murph and Lucile Evers; - Grandchildren: Tangela Murph Bailey (Bobby), Lachika Wright, Vickie Battles (Nathaniel), Giovante Powell, Jarvis Evers, Jessica Evers, and Justin Evers; and - A host of great grands, a great-great grand son, nieces, nephews, cousins other loving relatives and friends along with the staff at Menorah Manor and Season Hospice, Inc.
