Rebecca H. Broughton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Rebecca Broughton was born in Savannah, Georgia on November 27, 1923 to the late Whitt and Marie Harris. Rebecca was preceded in death by her siblings Johnnie Harris, James Harris, Isaac Harris and son Alan J. Broughton. Rebecca was affectionately known as Becky or Ma Beck. Rebecca attained her early education in the public school system in Savannah, Georgia. In the early 1930's she married Alfred L. Broughton and they moved to Inverness, Florida. To this union three sons were born, Alan, Alfred Jr. and Joseph. Rebecca accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was devoted to her church and family. Rebecca loved St. James, where she served as an Usher for many years. She also served on what we call now the hospitality ministry where she and her cohort Ms. Willie Mae Chester made sure there was always some homemade cakes and pies to go around. Whatever the church needed, she was always willing. Rebecca loved to do word searches, watch westerns and growing flowers (she just had that golden touch). Broughton (Delores), St. Petersburg, FL; - Grandchildren: J'Vann Mills (Frank), Richmond, VA, Andrea Griffith (Larry), San Diego, CA, Marcus Broughton Conyers, GA, Michelle Jordan (Parish), Marietta, GA, Christopher Broughton (Cindy), Irving, CA, Donna Harris (Mike), St. Petersburg, FL, Alfred Broughton III, Atlanta, GA, OJ Broughton, Inverness FL, Aaron Broughton (Jewel), Inverness FL, and Herman Broughton, St. Petersburg, FL; - Twenty Great-Grandchildren, seven Great-Great Grandchildren and other loving family members; and - Special friends Ms. Earnstine Demming, Althea Franklin, Gerri Woolfolk, Dee Broughton and Marie Dumas that was always there to help and keep her smiling.
