Paul W. Tate
July 22, 1953 - August 29, 2020
Paul Willie Tate was born July 22, 1953 in Tampa, FL to the union of James and Eva (Thompkins) Tate Sr. He was the fifth of their six children and the fourth of five boys: James Jr. (Avery), Charles (Lorraine), Wayne (Lorene), and Ray (Minnie); and one sister, Julia. Paul was about his family, although he had no off spring, he was “Uncle Paul” to a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and Cousin Paul to all the rest. He is also survived by his significant other, Joyce Green. Paul had many friends as well and knew a lot of people in the St. Petersburg area because of the meet the public type jobs he worked during his life. Beginning with Bill Gregory’s store as a teenager and his last job at the 6th drive through store near where he lived. In between he worked as a custodian, photographer, floor tech, mailroom clerk at a local business and finally riding “shotgun” with an interstate moving and storage company. That job gave him the most satisfaction because he had the opportunity to help a lot of people, both family and friends. Paul was truly one of kind and will be sorely missed. On August 29, 2020 he went to rest in the arms of the Lord and now enjoys the company of loved ones and friends that preceded him in the city not made by hands. You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same, But as God call us one by one The chain will link again. Ron Tramner Rest in heaven, our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
