    Gladys J. "York" Lewis

    July 31, 1955 - February 25, 2022

Gladys was born July 31, 1955, to the loving arms of DeLois Mae Lewis and Frederick Douglas Barney, Sr., in St. Petersburg, FL. She attended Immaculate Conception School and Dixie Hollins High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. She continued her education at FAMU; 1974 - 1978 and received her BSN degree. Over the years Gladys shared compassion, love and her well refined skills as a Registered Nurse (RN) with 1000s of patients in facilities throughout Pinellas County. She will be greatly missed by her patients and co-workers at the Alhambra Nursing Facility where she was most recently working. Gladys had a very quiet and gentle spirit which was camouflaged by her beaming infectious smile. When she entered the room, you could not help but feel her warmth and enjoy her laughter. In her leisure time, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; she was an avid reader; especially books on African American Heritage; and she liked watching television. Yet, nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her family and going places or hanging out with her sons. On February 25, 2022, the Lord called Gladys Jean Lewis to eternal rest. She is preceded by both parents, DeLois Mae Lewis and Frederick Douglas Barney, Sr. and her loving aunt Helen Lewis Baker. She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons: Quentin Lewis (Marsha) and Ronald Daniels; Grandchildren: Terence Jones, Angela Lewis, Annellse Lewis, Imani Daniels, Briyah Warren, Cort'nei Daniels and Omari Daniels; Brother: Vincent Williams (Kim); and Sister: Donna Lewis (Robbie) of Bradenton, FL. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends including: Monica Brown, Irene Thompson, Gail Williams Green, Rosemary Lazier and Boot Baker. Bonus Grandchildren: Briana, Jazmine, Saniyah and Reaghan.
