Andre D. Montgomery

February 12, 1985 - December 28, 2020

Born Andre Dion Montgomery on February 12, 1985 in the city of Los Angeles, CA to the union of Bernard K. Montgomery and Theresa A. (Harvey) Montgomery. Andre affectionately known as Dre, attended Century Park Elementary in Los Angeles, but graduated 6th grade from Woodruff Elementary in the City of Bellflower. He went on to attend middle school and High school at Bellflower High School graduating in June 2003. Andre was active in sports both Parks and Recreation, and High School. He played basketball, football, little league baseball, and ran track starting from the age of 6 all the while receiving many awards. In high school he received awards at the Baccalaureate Ceremony before graduation for playing 3 different sports. He had an amazing talent for athletics. But he surprised his family by enlisting into the United States Coast Guard right after graduating high school. He wanted to follow his older brother. He would receive many awards from his time in the Coast Guard and would be promoted to OS1 at the tender age of 24. He was featured in a documentary on the Smithsonian Chanel called Mighty Ships the USCGC Berthoff. The first Legend-Class maritime security cutter of the United States Coast Guard. He was honorably discharged September 18, 2012. Andre met and married a beautiful young lady, the love of his life, Cori Martinez-Montgomery May 4, 2018. Andre touched the lives of many people with his love for life, humanity, the environment, and pure coolness throughout his entire life. People just gravitated to him. His personality drew waves of friends. His family that stretches far and wide viewed him as one in a million. He put his heart and soul into everything he ever strived for and left no room for regrets. He found a love for powerlifting with his wife and was just at the beginning of competing in the sport. Andre died on unexpectantly December 24, 2020 due injuries he suffered in a tragic car accident. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife Cori Martinez-Montgomery, Bernard Montgomery -father, Theresa (Harvey) Montgomery-mother, Marquis Montgomery-brother (Reshonda), Brian Montgomery-brother, Kianna Montgomery-sister, Veronica (Brooks) Montgomery-stepmother, Alex Brooks-stepsister, Ryan Brooks-stepbrother, Mary Harvey-grandmother, Willie Harvey Sr- Grandfather (Jean), Rene Hurd-mother-in-law, Richard Martinez-father-in-law, Dustin Willis-brother-in-law, KaraLeena Martinez- sister-in-law, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The world has lost a soldier for life and everything good that it stands for. He is truly a legend in that regard. His footprint forever engraved in Bellflower High School Bellflower CA, Torrance little League Torrance CA, Pop Warner football Paramount CA, City of Bellflower Parks and Rec, United States Coast Guard, friends and acquaintances in St Petersburg FL and the hearts of many loved ones from every Coast Guard base he was assigned to.
